A Simple Digital Declutter (Yes, We’re Tackling Your Camera Roll!)
If you’ve been following along these past three weeks — welcome back, friend.
Truly. It means so much that you’ve stuck with this challenge.
So far, we’ve reset a little corner of our home with the 10‑minute daily declutter, bravely transformed the junk drawer, and last week we simplified one kitchen category — whether that was mugs, water bottles, Tupperware, or another little spot that needed some love.
This week, we’re stepping into a completely different type of clutter.
Not in a drawer.
Not in a cabinet.
But right in the palm of your hand…
Your camera roll.
And trust me — you’re not alone.
The Digital Declutter: Camera Roll Edition
Digital clutter is sneaky.
It doesn’t take up physical space, so we often ignore it… until suddenly we can’t find anything, our phones feel chaotic, and we’re overwhelmed every time we open our Photos app.
The good news?
Just like the rest of this challenge, we’re keeping it simple, doable, and judgment‑free.
This week, we’re focusing on two easy ways to declutter your camera roll — no perfection required.
1. Use Media Types to Declutter in Bulk
Open your Photos app and head to the bottom where the categories live.
You’ll see things like:
Duplicates
Screenshots
Bursts
Video clips
Screen recordings
These sections make it incredibly easy to declutter hundreds of photos without sorting through years of memories one by one.
Tap into a category, scroll through, and let go of anything that no longer serves you. It’s fast, freeing, and surprisingly satisfying.
2. Search by Today’s Date
This is my favorite method — and it’s fun.
In your Photos app, search for today’s date.
For example: “April 28.”
Your phone will pull up photos taken on this date across all past years.
You get a tiny, bite‑sized batch of photos to look through. Plus a sweet walk down memory lane.
Declutter that one small grouping.
That’s it.
One little slice of digital life at a time.
Why This Challenge Matters
This final week ties everything together.
You’ve spent the last three weeks building the habits of sorting, letting go, and resetting your home spaces. Now you’re bringing that same muscle into your digital world — a place we interact with constantly.
A tidy camera roll may seem small, but the impact is real:
Suddenly, finding a photo is easier.
Your phone feels calmer.
Your mind feels clearer.
You carry less “digital noise” throughout your day.
And that is exactly what this four‑week challenge is all about:
Small steps. Small wins. Big relief.
In your home, in your routines, and now in the technology you use every single day.
I hope you join me for Week 4 of this challenge. And if your phone shows you 3,000 screenshots from the past five years… just know you are in very good company. :)
Cheers,
Lexi
