This Week, We’re Tackling Just One Little Kitchen Category

If you’ve been following along these past two weeks — welcome back.

Truly. I’m so glad you’re here.

And if you’re just joining us now — hi! I’m Lexi, owner of Organize with Lexi here in Bismarck and Fargo. We’re on week three of our four-week organizing challenge.

So far, we’ve tackled the 10‑minute daily declutter, and then we bravely faced the junk drawer (yes… that drawer). I hope those challenges helped you feel the momentum that comes with taking tiny but meaningful steps in your space.

This week, we’re headed somewhere most of us spend a lot of time:

The kitchen.

But don’t worry, we are not doing a full kitchen overhaul.
We’re keeping it simple (you know I love simple).
And instead of tackling an entire cabinet, we’re focusing on just one category.

The Kitchen Category Reset

Kitchens are one of the most-used spaces in any home, so it’s no surprise they often become cluttered without us even noticing. Water bottles multiply, Tupperware lids go missing, mugs seem to appear on their own… you know the drill.

That’s exactly why this week’s challenge is so powerful. We’re choosing one small category and giving it a calm, fresh start.

Here’s how to do it:

Choose a category. Something like water bottles, coffee mugs, or Tupperware will work best for this challenge. And now the most important step?

Gather every single item from that category into one place.

Spread it all out so you can actually see what you have. This step matters more than you might think; it’s nearly impossible to declutter what you can’t see.

As you lay everything out, you’ll start to notice things you’ve been overlooking such as duplicates, freebies you don’t love, pieces missing lids, items you never reach for, or things that are cracked, leaking, or simply not your favorite anymore.

And here’s a big guideline I swear by:
We should limit ourselves to the space we actually have.

If everything doesn’t fit comfortably in the cabinet or drawer it belongs in, that’s a clear sign it’s time to let a few things go. Your daily life becomes so much easier when you aren’t fighting to cram mugs onto a shelf or searching for the one water bottle that still has its matching lid.

Once you’ve decided what stays, place the remaining items back with intention. No overthinking, no perfection, just a functional, calm setup that supports the way you actually live.

Why This Challenge Matters

This week we are simply continuing the momentum you’ve built over the past two weeks! You’re still practicing the skills of sorting, editing, and choosing what deserves space in your home. And this time, you’re doing it in one of the busiest, most used spaces in your entire house.

A small kitchen reset may feel simple, but the impact is real. Suddenly, the cabinet door closes without a struggle. Your Tupperware stacks neatly again. Choosing a mug in the morning feels a little more peaceful. These tiny moments add up.

That’s the whole goal of this four‑week challenge:
Small steps. Small wins. Big relief.

We’re building habits, confidence, and clarity.

I hope you join me for Week 3 of this challenge. And if you tackle your Tupperware and find 14 lids with no matching bottoms… just know you are in very good company. :)

Cheers,

Lexi
